2 of 5 I thought this would be a good product... Friday, November 28, 2008 J.M from Philadelphia, PA
After about 4 months of useage, I started to have problems with my drive, on VERIOUS computers the drive stopped detecting and stopped working. The blue light on the top would come on but the green one on the side did not. I can use it any more and now its a hunk of junk and a waste of money. I am extreme PO'ed... Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Fantastic little portable hard drive! Monday, July 07, 2008 Gil Miller from Florida
I used this little dynamo right out of the box (actually blister-pack), plugged it into one computer (Windows XP) with the USB plug and dragged some Old Time Radio shows in. I then carried into another room and transferred them to a laptop (Windows Vista). Since then I've used it to carry data from my studio computers (2) to my house computers(3)without a hitch. It's great not having to use a wall wart. I haven't needed to use the power plug (included) yet. Terrific buy! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Perfect Monday, July 07, 2008 Josh from Ocala, FL
This portable hard-drive is absolutely perfect for me. It's exactly what I was looking for. Very good capacity (120GB), small and compact, simple and trouble free operation, quite, and attractive casing. The speed of data transfer is very acceptable. You can transfer a ton of data in a very reasonable amount of time.
It only needs one of the provided cables to function perfectly on both of my laptops, and my desktop. All that, and a very reasonable price. I would recommend it to anyone. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 AWESOME Sunday, July 06, 2008 A Customer from COEUR D'ALENE, IDAHO
This thing is perfect. Self sustaining power through the USB and it's compatible with what I use. Granted I use mostly PC style computers. I haven't tried it with any Apple comps yet. Great buy! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 great product Saturday, July 05, 2008 A Customer from San Francisco, CA
PRO: portable; getting power from USB is a great plus; quiet; not getting hot.
CON: bigger than some other 2.5 in enclosures. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Couldn't be happier Wednesday, July 02, 2008 Blaine from Woburn, Mass
I couldn't be happier with this purchase. You couldn't beat the price I paid from ANTonline. I wanted something that I that I didn't have to load software with. I'm just tired of every company wanting you to use their software. I didn't need to load the software it connected just fine. I didn't need to connect the second USB for power (and my computer is old!.) Everything is working just fine so once again.... I completely satisfied with my purchase of this external hard drive. 4 of 5 Excellent product Thursday, June 19, 2008 zeitgeist from New York, NY
I needed a small, portable external hard drive and that is what I got. It is fast, efficient, has a good capacity for backing up and storing files and is easy with its plug-and-play. I am using it on a mac and so far it is working smoothly. The only reason I gave it a 4 overall is it does have that second USB plug for extra power. Even though it seems to be fine with power from the one USB my mac doesn't recognize the drive until I plug in the second USB to give it even more power. I have a USB splitter so it is not a hassle for extra plug space, but it would be easier if I only had to plug it in one place nonetheless. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 OK as a backup drive Sunday, June 15, 2008 Mark from Castle Pines North, CO
The product is a great price for some selective backup. The backup software wasn't up to the task. We ended up using a drag & drop method to back up and we'll do it manually in the future. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 external HD good value, bad cord Sunday, June 15, 2008 backup fiend from Seattle, WA
The external hard drive is easy to use and works well. My only complaint is that the cord that was sent with it appears to be a little lose, as my computer will randomly tell me that the USB has been ejected when it has been sitting on my desk and I have not even touched it. 5 of 5 Small enough to fit in a bag without a bulge Saturday, June 14, 2008 Jon from Cleveland, Ohio
I was surprised at how small this hard drive actually is. It's small enough to fit in a bag (with the cord wrapped around it) and not take up any space. I use it with my MacBook Pro to synch my iTunes music. I don't keep any iTunes music on my internal hard drive - it's all on this external, thus freeing up valuable hard drive space. And since its so small, I carry it with me everywhere. Was this review helpful?

I bought this drive for the price and size but when I ran a chkdsk on the drive, it came back with bad sectors. Another downside to this drive is that it comes with 2 non-standard usb connectors one for power from the usb hub. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good Size, OK performance, Great Value Sunday, June 08, 2008 Paul from Robbinsdale, MN
Overall this was a great buy for me. I needed something small (fits in my pocket) and inexpensive; this fit the bill. The one thing that would be nice is a true one cord system. If you have a high power USB port in will work with one cord only however I have had to plug in the second power cord numerous times to allow the drive to have enough power to show up in my system. The write and read times are pretty good for an inexpensive drive. This was a good purchase. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great drive for the price Sunday, June 08, 2008 John from Vestal, NY
Buy.com comes through again with a great product at a real good price. Drive is very good and I am using it to back my PC files so I don't have an issue recovering them. I can take it with me and use the data on another PC. I recommend it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Little Drive Wednesday, June 04, 2008 A Customer from Spartanburg, SC
I've had no problem with this drive. The compact size is perfect for carrying in by briefcase or purse. I used it straight out of the box, and don't have to use the 2nd USB power cable. I didn't install the software - just drag & drop my files. I got it for the purpose of moving my iTunes Library to a portable drive, and it works great in this capacity. I like the fact that it has an indicator light to identify USB 1.1 vs 2.0 ports. And the price at Buy.Com made it an extra value. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 So far so good.. Tuesday, June 03, 2008 A Customer from Walker, MN
This is a great little drive so far. Very light and portable for a 120GB drive. Does require the two included usb cables on the older computers I use. Excellent value. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Deal! Tuesday, June 03, 2008 doc738 from Georgetown, Texas
My only "complaint" was the plastic packaging which was hard to remove. The unit is very portable, sharp looking and easy to use immediately - only a simple USB cord (provided). Files transfer just fine using XP desktop without loading software. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works fine, cheap Tuesday, June 03, 2008 A Customer from SB,CA
The product has good performance, looks nice. The only drawback would be that it needs two USB ports (actually sometimes it works even when only a data cable is connected, but in that case sometimes makes weird noises). If you have two spare USB ports, look no further - by this! Was this review helpful?

1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Small and quiet Monday, June 02, 2008 A Customer from GA
I used the drive on a Solaris platform to store my photo album. I zeroed out the first 10000 blocks or so of the drive with dd (FAT is a pain to use under Solaris) and then put a new file system on it with newfs. Newfs could determine the drive parameters and put a UFS file system without any problems. The drive is virtually noiseless. The drive has a power input and, although it came with a power cable, the drive itself can be powered through only the USB cable. BTW, the power cable draws its power from a USB source, so if you would power the drive through with the power cord, you would probably need to use 2 USB ports (or use a USB power adapter). Anyway, as it turns out, you don't need the power cable at all. Was this review helpful?

I purchased this drive to play my music library in my new car that has a USB port for MP3 players.
I recently purchased a similar Seagate drive (same capacity, interface, form factor) and the Memorex drive has more features at a lower price. The Memorex drive arrives formatted for FAT32 instead of NTFS. This allows it to be used for MP3s and can be directly connected to most of the newer car USB ports. The Seagate drive was formatted NTFS and I had to find a formatter to change it to FAT32 because the car stereo wouldn't recognize the NTFS d |
